Computing Environment

In addition to resources provided by the University's two Enterprise-Class Data Centers, the Department of Computing Sciences also has its own dedicated server environment as well as four labs for computing, robotics, and networking that are exclusively for student use. By having a dedicated computing environment we're able to quickly adapt and respond to faculty and student needs as the semester progresses. Critical services are hosted in the Data Centers which maintain 99.99% or greater system uptime throughout the year. Access to the Department's server environment is protected by a secure VPN, helping to ensure confidentiality of data as well as enabling off-campus remote access to Department systems.

Highlights of the Department's server environment include:

  • Over 100 GHz of total processing power
  • Over 6.5 terabytes of high-speed disk storage
  • Highly available, 100% virtual environment
  • Multiple, dedicated servers for database, web, and application development
